ReadiStep and PSAT testing for Home-Schooled Students

The Texas College Preparation Program provides opportunities for districts and charter schools to administer college readiness assessments at grades 8 and 10 at state expense.  LISD will administer the College Board exam, ReadiStep, to all district 8th graders between October 4 and October 15.  The district will also administer the PSAT to all 10th graders on October 13.  These exams will occur during the school day.

Home-schooled students in grades 8 and 10 who reside in participating districts may take the ReadiStep (8th grade) or PSAT (10th grade) at their home campuses (Texas Education Code (TEC), §29.916).  Through TEA, the College Preparation program pays all test fees for these 8th and 10th graders, and there is no charge to home-school 8th or 10th graders to take these exams.

11th grade home-schooled students may take the PSAT on October 13, but Texas does not pay for 11th graders to take this test.  The fee is $13, although some campuses may charge a nominal additional fee for processing.

Home-schooled students who wish to take the ReadiStep exam should contact the counselor at their home LISD middle school no later than September 15, 2010.  Home-schooled students wishing to take the PSAT should contact the counselor at their home LISD high school no later than September 24, 2010.

For complete information regarding the ReadiStep assessment or the PSAT assessment, visit www.collegeboard.com.  There is an information letter regarding home-school students testing located here.
